4th of July: Big Sparks, Simple Joys
Whether you’re hosting a backyard BBQ or watching fireworks over the NYC skyline, the 4th of July is all about good food, great people, and sweet summer memories.
Across the country, traditions look different — from small-town parades and lake days to rooftop firework shows and neighborhood cookouts. That’s what makes it beautiful — we all celebrate in our own way.
At our house, it’s a BBQ kind of day. Burgers on the grill, kids splashing in the pool, and games like:
Sticky popsicle hands and late-night sparklers? That’s our kind of magic.
No matter how you celebrate, I hope your day is filled with laughter, love, and a reminder to look up — because these are the moments that really shine.
Happy 4th! 🇺🇸
Back to school season is here — the fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, and new shoes that somehow already smell like gym class.
In our house, it’s a mix of excitement, nerves, and chaos.
We try to keep it light and a little magical —
like sprinkling “smart sparkles” under pillows the night before school starts, so the kids wake up feeling confident and ready to shine.
(Yes, it’s just glitter. Yes, it still works like a charm.)

The Reality Check: Back-to-School is Expensive
Let’s be honest — the back-to-school budget hits hard.
Between supply lists, backpacks, lunchboxes, shoes, sports fees, and endless extras, it adds up quickly.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
😰
Helping with Back-to-School Anxiety
Whether it’s your kindergartener clinging to your leg, or your high schooler feeling the pressure, anxiety is real — for them and for us.

What NOT to Do:

What TO Do:
Back to school isn’t just about getting them ready — it’s about giving ourselves a little grace too.
Whether you’re crying in the parking lot or high-fiving at drop-off, you’re doing a great job, mama.
Here’s to fresh starts, big feelings, and another year of showing up.
Labor Day often means BBQs, pool parties, and one last summer hurrah — but at its core, this holiday is about honoring the American worker.
Originally established in the late 1800s, Labor Day was created to recognize the hard work, dedication, and grit of everyday people who helped build this country — from factory lines and farm fields to classrooms and construction sites.
It’s a day to rest, reflect, and celebrate the strength and spirit of the working class — past and present.

Labor Day Traditions Across the Country
Labor Day looks different depending on where you are:
But no matter where you are, it’s a time to slow down, enjoy the people around you, and reflect on how hard we all work — at home, at our jobs, in our communities.

So Fire Up the Grill… and Take a Breath
Whether you’re hosting a cookout, catching a back-to-school breather, or sneaking in a final dip before the pool closes — let this weekend be a mix of gratitude and good times.
You’ve earned it.
We all have.
Happy Labor Day! 💪🇺🇸

A season is more than a date — it’s a chance to slow down and celebrate what’s growing, glowing, or gently falling around us. 🌎✨
At Sugar and Spice Mama, Halloween isn’t just a day — it’s a whole season! From silly costumes and spooky crafts to haunted movie nights and candy overload, we love celebrating this wildly fun holiday with kids (and grown-ups!) of all ages.
Whether you’re making ghost footprints with toddlers, hosting a neighborhood costume parade, or watching classic Halloween flicks with teens, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. And yes — we believe in carving pumpkins, eating too much candy, and making magical memories all October long.
Did You Know?
Halloween is celebrated differently around the world!
🎃 In the U.S. and Canada, it’s all about trick-or-treating and spooky fun.
🕯️ In Mexico, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) honors ancestors with altars and marigolds.
👻 In Ireland — where Halloween began — ancient Celtic festivals like Samhain marked the changing of the light.
🎭 In Italy and Spain, children sometimes dress up, but the day leans more toward remembering loved ones.
No matter where you are, Halloween is a perfect chance to celebrate creativity, a little spookiness, and a whole lot of fun.
At Sugar and Spice Mama, Thanksgiving is more than turkey and pies — it’s a season of sharing, remembering, and giving thanks. It’s a time when we slow down, gather around the table, and celebrate the people and traditions that shape our lives.
The First Thanksgiving dates back to 1621, when the Wampanoag people and English Pilgrims shared a harvest meal after a challenging year. While the story has evolved over time, the heart of the holiday — gratitude, community, and sharing what we have — still rings true.
Today, Thanksgiving looks different across every home and culture.
🦃 Some gather for big family feasts, others keep it simple and quiet.
🌍 Families from different backgrounds bring their own flavors to the table — tamales, lumpia, curry, mac & cheese, and more.
🤲 Many use the holiday to give back, volunteer, or invite someone who might otherwise be alone.
In our home, Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks, honor tradition, and share food with the people we love — family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who needs a place at the table. Gratitude is the heart of this season, and it’s one tradition we’re proud to pass on to our kids.
There’s something truly magical about the Christmas season. All around the world, families celebrate in different ways—from midnight feasts in the Philippines to shoes left out for gifts in Germany, to fireworks and festive beach picnics in Australia. Whether it’s snowy or sunny, the heart of the holiday is the same: love, joy, and togetherness.
In our home, Christmas is a season full of laughter, traditions (both old and new), and a whole lot of sugar and spice. As the kids grow, our traditions shift—but the excitement never fades. You’ll find us making gingerbread houses, keeping up with our mischievous Elf on the Shelf, having cozy Christmas movie marathons, and wearing matching pajamas on Christmas Eve. One of our favorite things? Our Reindeer Games—a silly, spirited night of family challenges and laughs right before Santa comes.
And then comes New Year’s—fresh starts, sparkly celebrations, and setting intentions together as a family. Around the world, people celebrate with 12 grapes at midnight in Spain, jumping waves in Brazil, or fireworks lighting up the sky everywhere. However it’s done, the new year is a time to reflect, reset, and rejoice.
At Sugar & Spice Mama, we believe the holidays don’t have to be perfect to be meaningful—they just have to be real. And full of love
